The désalpe is one of the purest Gruyère agricultural tradition. This event is about the descent of the herds in autumn. In spring, farmers take their flocks to the mountain to graze on the high pastures (the poya), and they come back down to the valley in autumn. This is the désalpe.
You can see how beautiful the cows are with their intricate floral decorations, and also admire the traditional dress worn by the farmers and their families, the Bredzon for the men and the Dzaquillon for the women.
