Visit an Alpine chalet

Visit a traditional Alpine chalet and enjoy local cheese tasting daily in summer, from May to September according to the alpine season.

Discover the traditions of living and working in the mountains. The farmer invites visitors to find out more about his work and the traditional rituals that are still part of daily life on the alpage. The secrets of making Gruyère and Vacherin Fribourgeois cheese are revealed in the authentic atmosphere of a mountain chalet and you can taste the locally-made cheese on site.

Three chalets can be visited in Charmey : 

 

Chalet of the Piller family in Vounetse 

Chalet of the family Piller

Ascent to Vounetse on foot (~2 hours). The visit starts at 9.30 and ends at around 11.30.

The visit starts around 9h30 and ends around 11h30.

Adults : CHF 15
Children (aged 6 to 14) : CHF 10
Free for children under 6 years old

 

Chalet of the Aegerter-Chervet family in “la Balisa” 

Chalet of the family Aegerter-Chervet

The visit starts around 7h30 and is only in german. It takes an hour’s walk to get to the chalet, which is why it is recommended to go the night before and sleep on site.

You must make your reservation in advance at the tourist office in Charmey (minimum 5 persons for the visit in Vounetse).
