Le Pré de l'Essert

From the gondola parking lot, follow the main road back towards the village until you reach the Hôtel Restaurant de l'Etoile, then turn right. Follow the road until you reach a small footpath on your right.

The route takes you first up to the village of Charmey, then along a section of the Charmey-La Valsainte farm path. After 4.5 km of walking, a path on your left offers the chance to make a detour towards La Valsainte to admire the monastery of the Carthusian monks.

After this fork, follow the road for 1.8 km before turning left onto the road. At the next hairpin bend, a footpath takes you through the mountain pastures to the pretty Pré de l'Essert chapel . To reach the summit of Vounetz, this hike takes you up the slope opposite the chairlift departure point, then rejoins the alpine road towards Tissineva.

If you wish to do this itinerary from the summit, take the road around the chairlift arrival point and turn right at the Auberge Tissiniva. After 1.5 km, the path enters the mountain pastures towards Pré de l'Essert.
